'the room and what is here, that's a kind of beginning'

The move to a new flat was a starting point, a time in which I was feeling my way in a fresh space, curious about its possibilities.

The name Furnished is partly drawn from Lawrence Weiner's aphorism 'books do furnish a room' which describes my hope that this space can be as furnished with ideas and daydreams as it is with possessions. I like the title's 'putting in' connotation too, which might be as much about activity as it is about the material.

A living room and garden invite artists to work on an intimate scale, unlike the blank canvas of a gallery, this space is already a situation. Everything that is found here is integral, from the room's proportions and quality of light, to the contents of plants, books and furniture.

Like social calls, the exhibitions held here will be mostly occasional, one day events. While the installation of work will be a temporary occurrence, its process will breathe through various formats, in small publications, editions and a blog.
